My Photo
How to take a good photo for my portrait?
Take the photo in daylight or a bright room.
Use high-quality digital camera or recent smartphone.
Your pet’s face and body are clearly visible. Ideally your pet is looking directly at the camera at eye level and facing forward.
Avoid using any filters, this will ensure we can capture the colours in your portrait correctly.
Finally, make sure everything you would like shown in the portrait is visible in the photo.
What photo should I choose for my portrait?
A photo that captures a special moment that evokes a memory of your pet that might otherwise be lost, fade away or be forgotten.
Our goal is to bring your cherished photo to life, so that you can reminisce every time you see your pet’s portrait.
Does the quality of image matter?
Yes, absolutely, for best results:
Select a photo which you have in a high-resolution image format. Ideally a PNG, JPG or TIFF format, size between 5MB to 25MB
Choose a photo with proper exposure. This basically means an image that is not too dark, blurry, or bright as these issues will hinder the artist.
Do I upload my photo after my order is completed?
Yes, once an order is placed you will receive an order confirmation email. This email will contain the instructions on how to upload your selected photo.
If you are unsure, you can upload a few options, and we will recommend which one we believe, based on our experience, is the most suitable for a portrait. However, you will ultimately have to choose which photo to use, as its your custom portrait!
My Portrait
What canvas/portrait size should I choose?
The main consideration is where you would like to display or hang the portrait.
We offer the following standard portrait sizes:
20 x 25 cm
Perfect size to sit on an office desk or a small bookshelf
30 x 40 cm
Fits well on a larger bookshelf or on a study wall
40 x 50 cm
Normally selected to hang a wall in a bedroom or large study
We are asked to do larger portraits for living rooms, up to 1m x 1M. We are very happy to do these portraits. However, due to the extra time and costs we go through an offline quote and payment process. If you are interested in a larger portrait, please email us or complete our online contact us form.
What type of paint is used?
We use acrylic paint on all of our online orders.
If you’d like us to use oil paint or a combination of acrylic and oil paint, we will need to go through an offline quote and payment process. If you are interested in exploring this option, please email us support@paintmy.pet or complete our online contact us form.
Can I preview my pet’s portrait before it is delivered?
Yes, we want to make sure you're 100% happy before we ship your pet’s portrait. Which is why you will be sent a link to a high-resolution image of your portrait once it is complete. If you aren’t entirely satisfied, we will do a revision, so your portrait is just the way you like it before we deliver it to you. We want you to love your pet’s portrait!

Can I cancel my order after it’s been placed?

Please note: If the artist has already commenced work on your portrait, we are unable to cancel your order.
